How long does it take to open a store?

On average, it takes about 8 to 12 weeks once you've joined our system and we have identified a quality site for your business.

Will I need to be hands-on?

Yes. Over the last three (3) decades that the Pak Mail system has been in existence, we have found that hands-on owner/operators are best suited to optimizing the success of their business, within the Pak Mail model.

How much is the initial franchise fee?

Our initial, one-time, franchisee fee is $29,500, plus HST/GST.

How much is the royalty fee?

6% of sales.

How long is the franchise agreement?

Our franchise agreement provides for a 10 year initial term, with 2-5 year renewal options, as well as the opportunity for perpetual renewals; a rather unique approach to franchising.

Who will select my location?

We will work with our local realtors and yourself to identify the best possible location for you in the market area of your choice.

How much training will I receive?

We provide a minimum 4 weeks of training, and we'll make additional training available, if required.

What about on-going support?

We make available an extensive intranet site that's loaded and continually updated with everything that pertains to your Pak Mail business. From technical training manuals to Sales & Marketing; from staff interviewing and hiring forms to marketing materials and "How To" instructions; to name but a few of the support materials we continuously develop and make available to you.

We also conduct periodic store visits, have regional meetings and conventions where you have the opportunity to interact with fellow franchisee-partners, vendors and others.

Who pays for advertising?

Each Franchisee-Partner contributes up to 2% to an advertising fund and is expected to invest an additional 2% locally.

Does Pak Mail offer volume discounts?

Yes. We negotiate volume discounts with all major carriers and suppliers.

What hours will I be required to be open for business?

Although store hours may vary subject to the local market needs and Landlords' requirements, our typical store hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and short hours on Saturday, if required. No Sundays. No late nights.

Is business management experience necessary?

Business management experience although helpful, is not compulsory. If you follow our system and guidance, you'll be well on your way.

Who builds my store?

Although we will spearhead every facet of your store build-out program, you will be expected to be involved in every stage and have input throughout the entire process.

Can I sell my business?

It is your business and you are entitled to sell it. The buyer will of course be required to meet our current selection criteria.

Can I expand to a 2nd location?

Most definitely! The nature of our business model is such that it offers substantial synergies to multiple store ownership, thereby enhancing your ability to grow and expand your business.

What do I need to qualify?

Sunshine! The first rule in successful retailing is a true appreciation of customer service excellence. We can and will train you on all facets of your business, but we cannot change your disposition. If you thrive on providing an essential service to your customers and have a strong work ethic, we will provide you with the necessary tools to succeed.

Of course you will also need to have an adequate amount of capital and a good credit rating.

What does it cost to open a Pak Mail store?

Opening your own business is not a matter of costs. Rather, it's an investment you make in yours and your family's future.

The total investment range for a Pak Mail location is $125,500 to $161,000. A detailed breakdown of the investment can be found on the initial investment page.
